Lean Six Sigma and Kotter 8 points - point 2 - Making Change Work by a coalition

Have you ever been to a meeting, all employees and has been in the trenches with the rest of the herd? If so, then you've probably seen what I want a thinker, a call influencers. They are the ones who sit and respond to what is said in front of the room, and how to react to react more other persons in the room triggers the street. If waving his arms and bending his head side to side, make another the same. If you sit up and take an interestthe others do.

The Power of Influencers

If we change the implementation of the new initiative (Lean Six Sigma, for example), we all know that it is important to participate in the management. (See some of my previous articles on Kotter 8 points). We often get with the troops on board with the change effort. Often I see it as one in a set, by which each person involved is an event or a team at the first changeHand and hopefully convert A. But it would be nice to have a link in this long and tiring? Enter The influencer.

"Bubba"

I was in a state in the south and we were completing our third Lean Kaizen Blitz. Participants at the next team have just been announced, and I left work for the night. I was contacted by several people that my time had come - "Bubba" was commenting on the team next to be arrested. "He will not put up with this stuff.""He will then see through this." And these were the more printable comments. The same applies to every day for the rest of the event from all sorts of people. The next appointment was to be very interesting!

The next appointment arrived and I had to "Bubba." It was a great man, stretched with a clean South. But I did not let the lack of polish or the "good old boy" approach to jump. Since its inception, has proven to be a very sharp guy. During the event, had the possibility of fullrecorded voice his views and we most of his ideas in the new concept. (I was told, I am, he's a strong boy.) In scientific terms, it seems that he "did!" We had a very successful event.

When I arrived for the next event, the same people who warned me about "Bubba" pulled me aside. "What you have with" Bubba "? All talk about this stuff thin!" The manager also said that when he walked through the new cell, "Bubba" would pull him aside and comment on the shift offwere not exactly with the advice of programming, or that the flow has become more restricted material from which managers put their material. "Bubba" was a believer!

Impact of Influencers

What impact do you think that "Bubba" fall away from the opponents were to influence her? Do you think the Lean transformation has a shot in the arm? How can a person make much difference suggests that they are not on the organizationalChart?

When it comes to influencers, complaining that the organization chart. He moved the needle a disproportionate share because of its influence is not his salary.

Finding the right set of people who could be called influencers. Discover what makes them tick. Get involved. Above all, be honest and answer all their questions. If they decide that the transition is true, leads people to them and makes the application much easier.
